The aims of the course are to
1. Increase students’ vocabulary to discuss a variety of topics.
2. Improve conversational and discussion skills through interviews, role-plays and group discussions.
3. Improve presentation skills through content organisation, visual aids and effective speech delivery.
This class builds on the content and skills developed in the English B1 course. Students will use teacher-created worksheets to participate in interviews, role-plays, and group discussions, and will provide constructive feedback to their classmates. They will also create and present a research project on a topic of their choice.

The teacher will give students communicative activities based around the worksheets' topics.

The teacher will provide regular spoken and written feedback about students’ progress.
[Study time required outside of lessons: 15 hours]
Students should study the new vocabulary, prepare for discussions and presentations by researching the topic, reviewing the relevant language and practicing their speeches outside of class. All homework should be completed thoroughly and on time. For each 90 minute class session of this course, an average of 1 hour is needed for out of class study.
All students have access to the online English B course on the learning platform Reallyenglish. You must login to this platform and see what materials are available. You are encouraged to complete the activities in this online course particularly if you lack confidence in your listening skills. Reallyenglish will also help you improve your knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, which will help you express your ideas in English.

This course aims to develop students’ English speaking ability through communicative activities focusing on developing speaker confidence, conversation and discussion strategies and effective presentation skills.
